Eugene

Eugene Garrett currently teaches the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) class at Training for Life. Eugene has over 30 years martial arts experience. Being raised in Japan (military brat) he was exposed to martial arts at the early age of 5 years old where he trained in Shotokan Karate, and continued thru his early teenage years, until he returned to the United states, where he developed an interest in boxing and wrestling and obtained a golden glove boxing championship, and 2 All state wrestling championships (New York state).

After entering the military he returned to Japan and resumed his Shotokan training, where he earned the rank of 4th degree black belt. During this time he entered in Shootfighting competions (MMA) where he holds a record of 20-1- 0. While in the Far East he was exposed to Muay Thai and Tae Kwon Do, and after his discharge from the military he returned to the states and resumed his training inTae Kwon Do and Muay Thai. Where received a 2nd degree black belt in Song Moo Kwan, Tae Kwon Do and continued training in Muay Thai for the past 15 years, and started his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training in 2004. Mr Garrett is also a former Police officer and holds a Ph,d in Behavioral Psychology.
